Service Description

The growing pressure on ecosystems requires advanced tools to understand, model, and improve water quality. The D-Water Quality module of the Delft3D FM Suite offers powerful solutions for modeling the transport of substances, sediment, and ecological dynamics. This course equips participants to set up and run water quality, ecological, particle tracking, and oil disposal simulations using state-of-the-art environmental modeling techniques. What You’ll Learn This course combines theoretical concepts and hands-on exercises to develop practical modeling skills. Participants will: • Learn the theory behind environmental modeling using the advection-diffusion equation. • Understand numerical methods for transport modeling on irregular grids. • Set up and run water quality simulations to study sediment, oxygen, nutrients, and algae dynamics. • Use the Processes Library Configuration Tool to select substances and processes for simulations. • Explore the coupling between hydrodynamic models and environmental inputs. Who Should Attend? This course is intended for: • Project engineers, project leaders, and researchers with basic hydrodynamic modeling knowledge. Whether you’re new to environmental modeling or want to expand your expertise, this course offers the skills needed to apply D-Water Quality for environmental research and consultancy. A basic understanding of modeling in D-Flow FM is expected. To gain this skill, attend the Coastal Hydrodynamic Modeling course first. Course Format and Dates This blended online course includes self-paced modules and instructor-led sessions, allowing participants to progress at their own pace while benefiting from expert guidance.
